Tracksuit Lit: An Explosive Custom SFX Library
To our friends in advertising and production, we get it…putting out fires is part of the territory. But, what if you could fight fire with fire?
In celebration of Canada Day and Fourth of July, Tracksuit decided to bring the heat. And, our explosive results are captured in our latest custom SFX library, Tracksuit: Lit.
As a first step, we suspended a large aluminum sheet and shot it with gunpowder:
Our audio engineers then blew a series of fireworks through some round air ducting for some blazing custom sound design:
Music production for advertising is hard, but rewarding. We like to make it more interesting by concocting some eccentric schemes to generate our SFX. Here’s one way to make a “bass really slap”:
For something more soothing and less disco and fury, our team combined an ABS tube and a firecracker. It’s funny how the sound translates through the tube, reminiscent of when a brief transforms into a brand new concept half way through:
Of course it isn’t all fun and sound design for games, there is a lot of hard work involved in setting all of this up. A big thanks to the Tracksuit team that made it all possible. Here’s a snapshot of the setup and staging process:
Shoutout to Tyson, the newest member of Tracksuit. Tyson is a binaural recorder, and he will be used for VR audio. He has two binaural microphones in his respective ear regions. He gives us the most realistic recording of how the human ear actually hears. So, the next time you are flying through a VR hellscape (full of client fires) you can say, “Thanks Tracksuit, for making this just as painful and realistic as real life!”
Here is Tyson’s magical hearing put to explosive use:
Tracksuit is grateful for all things fire. May all of your custom sound design projects be Lit.
